The new 697bhp Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is unlikely to be the last word in handling, but it’s on the drag strip where it’s really expected to impress. However, in repeated 0-60mph tests from The Fast Lane Car, the Hellcat really struggled to get all of its near-700bhp muscle down on the tarmac, with the best result being a dissapointing 4.7 seconds. Still very brisk, but considering the power, we were expecting a much quicker time than that.

TFL did admit the conditions weren’t the best, but given the unruly way in which the Hellcat puts down the power, some have called into question the logic of having 275 width rear tyres with such a huge output from the engine. Needless to say, none of this stops us wanting one of these beasts for ourselves any less.
