Here's Why Driving On A Cycle Path Is Incredibly Dangerous

When this cyclist was crossing a pedestrian bridge, she was suddenly faced with a vehicle coming in the opposite direction

Kelley Howell was cycling across the pedestrian/bike lane on the Berkley Bridge in Virginia, when she was faced with an SUV coming the other way. The pair collided, knocking Howell off her bike.

WVEC reports that after exchanging information with the driver, Howell spoke to police, who told her they couldn’t investigate because they were not there immediately after the incident occurred.

The vehicle was being driven by a Virginia Department of Transport employee, and although the walkway displays signage warning that VDOT vehicles may use the path, it has changed its policy following this incident.
