This Might Well Be The New Tesla Semi Truck
The big reveal of Tesla’s new semi truck (or ‘lorry’ to us Brits) is over three weeks away, but thanks to an eagle-eyed Reddit user, we’re getting a cheeky, early look.
A photo showing the truck completely undisguised was posted in the Tesla subreddit before being deleted and re-uploaded, and although we can’t be 100 per cent sure it’s the real deal, it certainly looks to match a previous teaser shot. The Reddit user has even had a crack at Photoshopping on the fairing.
At the time of the teaser image’s release, Tesla CEO Elon Musk described the incoming truck as a “beast.” The vehicle - due to be revealed on 26 October in Hawthorne, California - is expected to have a range of 200 - 300 miles initially, eventually competing with the 1000 mile ranges commonly achieved by conventional diesel-powered lorries.
The new vehicle forms part of Tesla’s wide-ranging expansion plans, which include releasing a ‘Model Y’ compact crossover plus a pick-up truck, and seriously ramping up Model 3 production.

“How far are you getting with the electric truck idea?”
“It’s SEMI getting there….”
Why can’t people stop to do unfunny puns for God’s sake
Yep. I’ve officially seen everything.
Why did they have to get inspiration from this
How does this monstrosity looks in any way, shape or form like the Alleged Tesla’s Semi?
Imagine seeing this on a road, it’s just too futuristic to be possible…
And if it has ludicrous mode, then this would happen.
nice
Yes, Tesla’s awesome new truck. Better tow it with a usual truck.
Ah… proper semiconductors incoming
I still fail to see the sense in an electric semi truck. Sure, the torque of electric engines are going to be great for pulling large loads, but you’re going to need massive batteries to power the thing. And those will take a long time to charge, and unless I miss my guess, companies probably won’t care about the fumes diesel semis put out if they get the job done faster than an electric one that has to stop every few hours to charge for another hour or two. On top of that, it will most likely have a huge upcharge over regular semis, just like in the car market. Which means trucking companies that buy them will have to increase the prices they charge to compensate. So what you have is a slower, more expensive way to transport your goods. But don’t worry! It’s saving the world! While it’s an interesting concept, I don’t think the tech is there yet to make it work…
You are kinda wrong, once the battery gets solved, it will be better. Also do you know how power fully green advertising is? And the chrage is not that big of an issue, a driver can’t drive for longer than 8 hours, if I’m not mistaken, so 8X60mph you get 480 miles. Not a problem for a truck that can have 5 times more batterys than a sedan. And with Teslas power this could re-charge in two hours
Because its like 70% savings in running costs. Like half the worlds trucks only drive short trips doing the final distribution. Not everything needs to drive across the country.
They will probably have swappable batteries that the fork lift can swap while loading and unloading in half the time it will take u to fill up.
Not to mention, batteries also go flat. So to fix an elwctric semi with flat batteries you would have to get new batteries and what sort of enviromental impact do batteries have?
You, I like you. I think the exact same. The ICE semi truck will still be better than this, for all the the reasons you have listed
Holy F this looks amazing
i wonder what elon musk has that t say about that
