Watch A Bus Driver Drift A Double-Decker To Avoid A Horrible Smash
We expect to see top-drawer saves in snowy conditions when we’re watching a Scandinavian round of the World Rally Championship, but check out the mad skills from this bus driver in Scotland.
The car from which this video was filmed had pulled over at the roadside at a location said to be near Edinburgh, while the car in front attempted to pull some kind of bizarre, aimless manoeuvre that only your chosen deity could hope to understand. The car pulls across onto the wrong side of the road just as, out of the gloom, emerges a swiftly-moving Lothian double-decker bus.
Its driver, named on social media as Charmaine Laurie, pulls out to go around the crazy car driver but loses the back end of the bus on the slippery surface. The bus, now at Brown Alert status, drifts gracefully as Laurie quickly dials-in some opposite lock, catching the slide heroically and managing to avoid the stricken supermini. Maybe stability control helped, but the driver did all the right things.
Arguably she was travelling a bit quickly for the conditions in the first place, but that, ladies and gents, considering the size, weight, centre of gravity and number of passengers involved, and what might have happened if it had have gone wrong, is a save straight out of the premier league of saves.
