Your help is needed CTzens, to help #SavePhil!
Hello CTzens! As you’re all probably aware, after the #CTMeet2016, poor old Phil is still sitting alone and helpless in Germany.
Hello CTzens! As you’re all probably aware, after the #CTMeet2016, poor old Phil is still sitting alone and helpless in Germany. Well, after me and my friend Nico had such an epic time traveling across 4 countries just to meet the CT Lads, Boosted Borris, SeenThroughGlass (Sam), and a whole bunch of awesome CarThrottle users from all across Europe, we have decided to try to help Alex out!
What's the plan?
Well, it’s actually rather simple in theory; they plan on rescuing Phil, by driving back to Germany, and putting Phil on a trailer. Sounds simple, right? Well, not quite. Trailers cost money, not a lot of money, but, they still cost bit. The same goes for all the things that go with a trip like this, such as fuel, accommodation, tolls, and so on.
That’s where you CTzens come in.
How can you help?
‘What can I do to help!?’ I hear you cry. Well, as explained above, these things cost money, so we need you guys to help raise that money. Don’t be alarmed though! You don’t have to give all your money that you’ve saved for your project car! If you head on over to our Indigogo Campaign , you’ll see that anything from as little as £2 will make all the difference, and any contribution will get you some awesome CarThottle perks and prizes :)
What if we raise more than the £500 target?
If we raise more than our goal of £500, we will donate any extra funds that you guys raise to the Make A Wish Foundation. They are a pretty awesome cause, that aim to help unwell children have awesome days out, including meeting stars, and getting passenger rides in epic cars, as a couple of examples.
Does Alex and CarThrottle know about our plan?
Yes! We had a meeting with them the other day, so they were aware of our plans, and to make sure they were happy to give us the green light. They loved it so much that they suggested that we join them on their journey, and also some awesome perks that were even more amazing than we had originally planned!
The whole trip will be filmed and documented by CarThrottle, as part of the #ProjectMX5 series on YouTube.
The campaign is being organised by myself and Nico, with the kind permission and support of Car Throttle, who have agreed to provide some great perks for everyone who supports the campaign.
Why are we doing this campaign?
As we said before we enjoyed driving to Germany so much to hang out with some fantastic people, and we felt like giving something back to CarThrottle for planning such an amazing event.
Not only that, but it’s the spirit of a Petrolhead, Car Guy/Girl, and CTzen to come together and help others in need.
So please, if you have any spare money, even if it’s only £1, think about poor little Phil, and show your support. #SavePhil

I just donated 5 euros, which comes out to about 8 american dollars. Do I get a free emoji with my perk?
yes :)
So for £1 i can get sweet CT merch? :D
Well, £5 will get you some stickers.
£5 for Phil! Hope to see it back on the road soon.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this already but I think it would be a good idea to donate the ad revenue from the #SavePhil video to the Make A Wish charity. Alex Kersten
Why exactly is Phill stranded though? Wouldn’t Alex be able to go get him and drive home?
Phil has a massive oil leak so he can’t be driven.
if inidiegogo accepted iDeal i would’ve certainly donated
So CT can afford to throw thousands into a rusty old MX5 to get it barely roadworthy and do a straight copy of an MCM project but they need donations for a tow? Seems legit.
You’re missing the point. This was not organised by CT in any way. We approached them about it to make a truly special episode of Project MX-5, made possible by the community
I wish I could have donated.. but I iz broke :(
too late
Amazing how his wheels have changed whilst sitting in Germany ;)
how did phil get there, and how is he stuck?
Alex drove him there for the CT Meet a few weeks ago, did a lap of the Ring, and broke him. So he had to be left there, as no garage wanted to help out, due to VLN commitments.
