The Puma GT, originally called the Malzoni GT after its company founder, Genaro Malzoni, was designed as a race car to compete in the highly competitive Brazilian GT racing series. Lightweight and aerodynamically designed, the car exhibited spirited performance and, in 1965, won five impressive victories.

Volkswagen has factories around the world, this includes Brazil. Imports were not allowed in the 1970’s and Volkswagen’s only sports car in the market was the Karmann Ghia. Volkswagen of Brazil chose to start a project in 1969. A team led by Mr. Schiemann and supported by Rudolf Leiding (the CEO of the subsidiary and later of the entire company) started work on a so called “Project X”, and presented a prototype in a 1971 fair.

The car was actually built in South Africa between 1970 and 1972. The Johannesburg car racing company Basil Green Motors took the body of the European Ford Capri 3000 XL , and put a Ford Mustang V8 in it. The car was only available in South Africa, but because the actual car (3000 XL) was built in Germany, makes it a Euro car. The car in the picture was imported to Germany

VW Motorsport only build two prototypes of the VW Scirocco MK 2 with a Bi-Motor. The two cars looked totally different from each other, but had the same engines, yes you read right, the cars had two engines one 4 cylinder in the front and one 4 cylinder in the back. 2 of them are in the emirates, one is missing and the other one, the one in the picture is in the Audi museum in Ingolstadt.
