Why? Why not! For a few years Chrysler owned Lamborghini, hence bringing this idea to light. Why wouldn’t you try to stuff a 250HP Lamborghini Jalpa transverse V8 into a Dodge Daytona? It was even AWD, designed by Carroll Shelby himself, a challenge in itself, as the Daytona is a FWD car. It was claimed that the prototype didn’t proceed onward due the oil pan of the V8 being only 1.5in clearance from the ground, you can see this in the first image #turbododge

Yes the 89’ Caravan was offered with a Chrysler 2.5L Turbo I with 150HP and 170lb-ft mated to a A555 5-speed transaxle. The best thing about these vans is that if you add an intercooler and safely raise the boost you can cheaply make in excess of 250HP/250lb-ft+… sleeper anyone? The turbo sport package also included heavy duty brakes, 15” Alloy Snowflake wheels, dual exhaust and tachometer #turbododge

Based on the Dodge Shadow, the CSX was modified by Carroll Shelby at his Whittier, California, USA plant. Only one color was available, Exotic Red.

In 1985 Chrysler’s performance division of the time, Direct Connection, was given one of the all-new Dodge Shadow’s to play with. The car featured larger brakes, an electric master cylinder, beefier suspension, lowring springs, quick ratio steering rack, minivan steering knuckles. The engine was Chrysler’s 2.2L Turbo I, but featured Direct Connection (DC) race ported head, DC intercooler, and a prototype header. Output was 180 bhp at 11 psi and 210 ft-lbs.

Slated for a built Chrysler 2.5L Turbo and A555 transplant, est. to produce 300HP and 300ft/lbs… vs the stock 2.2L with 100HP… This car weighs 1050kg stock :) Driveline and brakes also beign replaced with 1989/90 Daytona Shelby components - direct swap! In part hunting and collecting mode for now #turbododge Build Plans… Extract the stock 2.2L TBI Automatic and entire driveline for: 1989 Chrysler 2.5L Turbo Motor upgraded with forged pistons, keeping stock crank and rods as they are strong enough for my expected power levels (300HP / 300ftlbs).
