I thought I was done with blog posts, but I recently had the opportunity to re-watch one of my favorite car movies which contains my absolute favorite opening scene in any movie. I am talking about the 2011 critically acclaimed film “Drive”. The movie opens with a night car chase through the streets of Los Angeles. I will summarize it briefly but I highly recommend that you watch the video I have linked above. Actually, scratch that watch the whole movie. It is absolute gold which contains other car chases with an amazing plot and excellent acting.

Yea, I know this isn’t about cars but I recently had the opportunity to read a book about famous outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Some of you may recognize those names from Top Gears Patagomia special in 2014 when the three original hosts visit the famous cabin the two outlaws lived in while hiding in South America. While there, the three hosts perform many shenanigans while quoting the famous 1969 film “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.

Beginning in late 2005, gas prices in the United States began to increase dramatically. The rise in gas prices saw many Americans look to other forms of transportation and a decline in new vehicle sales. The auto industry began losing money and when the financial crisis of 2008 came around, it was clear that they would be facing some difficult years ahead. In 2009, Chrysler and General Motors both filed for bankruptcy and had to turn to the American government to secure loans to keep them afloat.

The Buick Grand National is a car like none other. It is a car that everyone likes. It manages to transcend generations and classes to appeal to almost every American. Rappers love it, baby boomers love it, hipsters love it, and rednecks love it. This post is not about the Buick Grand National, this is about another fast car Buick made after it was long gone and why it isn’t idolized in the sense the Grand National is. This is about the Buick LaCrosse Super.
