This weird looking car, produced from 1949 until 1956 was Saab’s very first production car. The 92 looked like no other car due to its very aerodynamic shape, this wasn’t just purely for the looks though, because the car only had a 764cc two stroke engine with just 25bhp it needed to have a very low drag coefficient. They definitely succeeded since the 92 has a drag coefficient of just 0,30.

For the 1963 Paris Motor Show Pininfarina was asked to redesign the C2 Corvette. What they came up with was the Pininfarina Rondine Coupe. Unlike the original C2, the Rondine Coupe’s body was made completely made of steel instead of Fiberglass, which significantly increased the car’s weight and changed the way it handled. Chevrolet didn’t really care about the compromised handling, since it just a one-off car designed for a car show.

Every petrolhead knows that flying lady that prances on top of pretty much every Rolls Royce, even most non-petrolheads know they’re looking at a very expensive car, as soon as they see that ornament on top of a car’s bonnet. The Spirit of Ecstasy , often referred to as “The Flying Lady” is Rolls Royce’s bonnet ornament. It resembles a bend over woman with her arm stretched out behind her. Billowing cloths run from her arm to her back, resembling the wings.

Gatso was a Dutch car company founded just after the Second World War in 1948 by Dutch racing driver and inventor Maus Gatsonides. Originally he wanted to call his company Gatford, but, according to Ford, this name was too similar to the French word “matford”; so they forced Gatsonides to change the name of his company. Because the company went bankrupt after only a couple years, they only managed to build two models: the 4000 and the 1500 (the car in the picture above).

The Volvo PV was a series of two- and four-door passenger cars made by Volvo from 1947 to 1966. In the early stages of the Second World War Volvo believed that due to the lack of raw materials caused by the war car manufacturers should focus more on making smaller and more affordable cars. This way they didn’t use that many materials, so they could build more cars. In 1944 Volvo revealed the car to the car-hungry public. It was immediately a huge succes and orders poured in from all across Sweden. Yet it would take another three years before the production finally started.

When you think of McLaren-Honda in modern F1 you think of slow cars who brake down after 10 laps and a frustrated Spaniard who shouts “GP2 engine” and keeps making sarcastic remarks. But it hasn’t always been like this.
