1973-1979 Honda Civic “It’ll get you where you’re going” Launched in 1973 when the world was struck by the oil crisis. It was a great chance for Honda to get mainstream while the G.M. and Ford couldn’t find a place in the market with their Chevy Vega and Ford Pinto. Equipped with a transverse mounted 1.1 liter four cylinder engine producing about 50 bhp, it was the perfect car for the general public at that time. Even better, it liked to rev, and the four-speed manual was already hinting at the greatness of Honda shifters to come.
