Why I'm still excited for Top Gear #blogpost

There’s been a lot of hatred towards the new Top Gear and I just don’t see it. All of them seem to be either saying how it’ll never be as good as the previous Top Gear, or how Chris Evans is a “ginger prck”.

There’s been a lot of hatred towards the new Top Gear and I just don’t see it. All of them seem to be either saying how it’ll never be as good as the previous Top Gear, or how Chris Evans is a “ginger prck”. While I’m of course excited for The Grand Tour, Top Gear still doesn’t look ready to die out and here’s why…

1. It doesn't seem like they're just trying to copy what James, Richard and Jeremy had

Or at least not entirely. To me, this was the most important step in not being just terrible. Try and be different, but keep in the right elements. It’s hard to base this around anything, but their casting of 6 presenters rather than 3 is deffinitely a step in the right direction.

I’ve always felt like other than the presenters, this is really what set Top Gear apart from the others. The way the program was shot was so different and so utterly gorgeous that it really gave a sense of the beauty and pure theatre of these cars. And you can still see this in the trailer. Just focus on the way it’s shot and edited and tell me if that still isn’t there.

3. Are the presenters really that bad?

Hear me out…
When people complain about the new Top Gear, they all seem to push the blame onto Chris Evans. So I get the feeling he isn’t the most popular of presenters. But is Jeremy too? Outside of the car world, a lot of people seem to really dislike him. But we all still love him. Why? Because we’ve seen him as this loveable oaf for years on the show, while sharing in his love of cars. Who’s to say this can’t happen with Chris Evans?

Then there’s the rest. We have Matt LeBlanc. A bit of a strange choice, but a bit of American insight and homour interspersed with the rest can make for some good stuff. Sabine Schmitz is a seriously good driver and very funny. We already know and love Chris Harris and Rory Reid’s been on things like “Fast Furious and Funny” so he also has talent in presenting and I’m still not sure what Eddie Jordan’ll be doing on the sure, but hopefully that’ll be good too…

4. and most important... THERE'S STILL A SHOW WITH CLARKSON HAMMOND AND MAY!!

We’re still getting a show with the previous Top Gear hosts! What this whole thing means, is we get Top Gear with a different name and a bigger budget and an entirely new car show with a company that’s been doing so since the 70s! Where’s the down side to this??

The summary nobody asked for

So that’s all I have to say for now. There’s more that can be said, but I lack ability to make blog posts any more detailed than this. Am I saying it’ll be better than Jeremy, James and Richard’s shows? No. Am I saying it’ll be great right off the bat? Probably not. All I’m saying is give it a chance and give it time. The chemistry between the presenter will get better and better over time.
Now hopefully you can go into the trailer more optimistically… if you managed to stick around this long. Toodles!
