1. Nissan S14 Silvia - Gibbles

I regret selling my S14. I miss it almost every day, but family comes first.

2. Mini Cooper S - Geoff

Been there. The car I regret selling the most was my first Mini Cooper S, a 2005 model. Had a few modifications, including suspension, brakes, and a few engine tweaks. Had about 220bhp, and handled so well! Went all over Europe in it, and round the Nurburgring. The most fun I’ve had in my life, and I miss it so much! I have another one now, but the previous one still has sentimental value, and I will always remember it!

3. Toyota MR2

Made a huge mistake selling my 97 MR2 GT T-Bar. It was my second car and fantastic to drive. It was the car that really sparked my passion for cars. It taught me a lot about control - both how to get it right and how it can go very wrong very fast. I spent a lot of money improving, repairing and caring for it and I sold it for much less than it was worth.

A year later I wanted to get into doing track days and bought a 106 GTi. This was a piece of crap and caught fire so I ended up replacing it with an MX5. While I love my MX5, it doesn’t compare to the MR2. Had I known at the time I would never have sold the MR2 and used that as a track car instead. Biggest car-based mistake I’ve ever made, more so than buying the 106 GTi.

4. Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 'Cosworth' - me

After three years of trying and failing to find a garage competent enough to work on the old Bosch KE injection system to get the damn thing to work properly, I threw in the towel and sold my 1986 Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 for not much money. Even though it would have continued to suck my bank account dry, I wish I would have persisted and got it running right, and sorted out the crusty rear wheel arches!

Hoping I can buy another one before the prices go too far into the stratosphere…

5. 1976 Dodge Tradesman - Jesse

It was slow, had no visibility and was made fun of constantly, but I loved that van. Ended up trading it for a 97 Dodge Dakota.

6. BMW X6 - Daniele

I know y’all hate it… but I loved it… and I still miss it. It all started back in 2007 when I first saw it at the IAA. I wanted to have it and I had to have it. So dad made my dreams come true. two and a half years and 70,000km later I decided to sell it as I was getting my proper real job and wanted to live with my own money.
So the X6 had to go. had so many memories with but it was time to become mature and an adult. So while I regret getting rid of it I am proud of my decision. And it was the most beautiful car out there at the time.

7. 2005 Legacy GT LTD - ShiggityShaz

Five-speed, Regal Blue Pearl / black leather, full bolt ons and tune. Basically the same drivetrain as the WRX with a beefier five-speed, better styling, and a lush interior with options I don’t even get on my 2013 XV Trek. Man I miss this car…a lot :(

8. Lotus Exige S1 - Phil Kelly

Drove it to Spain via the Alps and it never missed a beat. I saw it up for sale a year after I waved it goodbye for £10k more…

9. BMW E36 325i - Sam K

Bought it from my parents ‘cause they didn’t want to pay to repair it. Five-speed manual, sunroof, and a sound that I’ll never be able to forget.

It’s funny how as owners we notice certain aspects of our cars that no one else would remember, but to us they mean everything. I’ll never forget the smell of the leather seats on a hot summer day, cooking in the blaring sun, or the feel of the steering wheel and the wooden shifter.

I asked the new owner just before he drove it off if I could have a few final moments with my first car. I turned it on, felt the pedals, the wheel, the shifter, and I knew that I would never again sit in that seat. I would never enjoy those 2am drives out to the middle of nowhere, just to be able to drive that beautiful piece of machinery.

I gave the engine one final rev, and the owner’s face lit up like a Christmas tree. I knew I was leaving it in good hands, but a part of me still misses those drives with the greatest car I’ll ever own…

10. Alfa Romeo GTV - Beto Manzano

Still miss the sound of the 3.0-litre V6 engine :(

11. 1988 Mk2 VW Golf Memphis - Joel Eriksson

I regret selling my 1.8-litre 1988 MK2 Golf Memphis. Selling that car was the biggest mistake I made last year.

12. Austin Mini Clubman - Olivier Guillemin

13 Cars You Regret Selling Most

Every day I regret selling my old daily car, my 1971 Austin Mini Clubman, Rusty (ratsfink)! I saw it on the road one time and fell in love instantly, and one day it was for sale so I bought it. I did so much to make it better, this little thing was my best ever Mini.

Now when I see it in a meeting, I get tearful, like a child loosing his favourite toy…

13. VW Golf Mk1 convertible - Jordy Davina

13 Cars You Regret Selling Most

This was my first car; got it from my dad as he helped build it. Had it for six years. Three years ago I thought that I found the love of my life. She once said I was too busy with cars, and I thought she might be right, so I sold the car. Two days after selling the VW I’d built she dumped me. Instant regret.

Never quit your hobby for a ‘better relationship’ is what I learned. If he or she doesn’t have the respect for your hobby you should break up with them instead! Now I lost my best buddy. Much regret :(
