7 Awesome Cars That Are Now UK Road Tax Bargains
The recent road tax changes in the UK have left eco-warriors in a bit of an odd position. Now that the rules have switched to the new system, after the first year a new Prius costs the same to tax for 12 months as a diesel Discovery Sport. Instead of paying higher rates for higher emissions, all cars up to £40,000 with an internal combustion engine on board now pay the same. That’s got to sting if you’re all about the Greenpeace life.
But it’s good news for buyers with a more Car Throttle mindset. If you’re in the market for something fun that costs less than £40,000 but were always put off by ridiculous annual road tax rates, you’d better sit down because the options for big-engined, big-fun cars have opened right up.
The number of great fun cars that have dropped to a simple £140 annual road tax payment is awesome, as our list shows. Gentlemen, you might want to hide your crotch area. Here are just some of the cars whose VED is now down to the equivalent of £11.66 per month.

DEAD JOKE BTW
Now come on!! That’s only when you’re new to the car and disable traction control and ABS because “TC/ABS is for wimps” when you drive a Mustang!!
Booooooo!
damn son how can you as funny as this?
You have taxes and we have registration renewal.
SO DOES THIS MEAN I CAN DRIVE A MUSTANG TO A GREEN PEACE MEETING NOW?
Heck yeah! Drive it there, rip a filthy old burnout ‘till you bald your tyres to the belts and roll off gangsta style while the eco-warriors turn full SJW and start rioting!! GENIUS!!
Sorry to be boring here but what’s the initial road tax cost for them? That’s what’s changed it’s only on new cars and the amount to pay to initially tax the car after you pick it up could be anything up to £2000. Anything registered before the 1st April still pays the old tax.
And here’s me paying £235 a year on my 1.6 MX5, while my brother pays the same £235 a year on his E39 M5…
£295 for the 1.8 MX-5, maybe it’s not always the answer any more (I hope Alex didn’t hear that)
how about not live in Europe and deal with this bullshit lol
English people do not live in Europe.
And yet…
So can we now get all the American muscle cars (like the Hellcat) and other V8 monstrosities (like the GT350R) in here?
And then you have Belgium…
V8 Mustang 45 000€… road tax? Another 14 000€ ow and anual 3500€ to keep it on the road…
