Also to add to the 4.6 DOHC goodness… Lincoln Continental and Lincoln Aviator. I think the only difference between the Cobra motors and other motors installed in the Lincolns had steel cranks instead of forged, but retained the same forged pistons/rods. But great motors that are quite readily available.

How about the Ford S-Max with the Focus ST225/mk2 RS engine? Not necessarily legendary however that Volvo 5 cylinder engine is very well known and highly thought of.
