What car completely changed your perceptions of something?

For me, it was the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 that changed my perception of American cars. I’ve always dismissed ‘Murican cars as, for me, life is more than just a straight line. Corners are where the fun is at. But then the Z/28 came along and even the most biased European had to sit up and take notice. And it even looks stunning, too.

We want to know what car completely changed your opinion about something. Perhaps it was an electric car that converted you from ICE, a manual that made you realise sometimes auto is the answer, or perhaps a manufacturer you hated made something epic. I’ve never thought American cars were bad, because I’ve been in corvettes since I was born. I always thought German cars weren’t reliable. But my dad’s 03 e320 with 165k changed my mind.

Chevrolet Cobalt 5 speed manual. My first car was a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, it was absolutely perfect, but one night I got t-boned and we had to sell it to insurance. I always thought that 4 bangers were just noisy slow economy cars, but after I got a Cobalt, I realized how much fun they were to throw around corners and zoom everywhere. It taught me you don’t have to be fast to have fun driving.

It was an ae86 that taught me JDM cars were great, (I’m American), a Ford Fairlane that taught me Fords were okay, and a BMW converted into an EV race car that taught me electric could be fast.

Probably the Z/28 Because I didn’t think it would 7:37 around the ring

For me, in was the Toyota MR2. When I was younger, being from the southern US, I used to think that big power figures were everything, then I took a ride in my friends old MR2, and that was some of the most fun I’ve had in a car. That MR2 was the car that made me a huge JDM fan.

Starting with Shelby GT350, even through it heavy, but you still can drive it smoothly on track

Then Integra DC2, apparently it was faster than a Boxster with just simple tuning. You could beat Supra in corner with this.

After that is Bentley Muslanne, its still a weird thing knowing this 2,5 ton of steel could run against GT-R in Autobahn ring at speed 195mph

Civic EK9, do some good tuning and this little bug could beat S15 #FFFTW

Is not that heavy in the contemporary context, is about the Same as an M4, is lighter than a C63, etc.

I generally don’t like american cars but a few have always stood out for me. I pretty much like most old muscle cars but theres not many today I like. The few good ones today that i would drive are the 03 cobra, 02 ws6 trans am, the latest z28 camaro, zl1 camaro, zo6 corvette, zr1 corvette, and the hellcat challenger.
