10 Awesome Cars Added To The CT Garage In October
This Halloween, we went trick-or-treating through the Car Throttle Garage. After all, why settle for fun-sized Snickers bars and stale lollipops when you can have a look at some of the coolest cars in the world? Here are 10 additions to the Garage from October that we can all agree are sweeter than a pillowcase full of candy.
CTzen La260z and I share one thing in common: we’ve both had the pleasure of owning a silver 1981 Datsun. However, unlike my slow and rusty 720 mini-truck, La260z has one of the coolest (and fastest) Datsuns ever built. What’s even more amazing is the fact that, despite being nearly 37 years old. this Datsun is pretty much free of rust and corrosion. Nice car, La260z!
There are two well-known truths about the E60 M5: it’s one of the greatest BMWs ever made, and its 5.0-litre V10 engine has plenty of power. For CTzen DaraM5, however, 500bhp just isn’t enough. So he went and stuck on a supercharger to give this Autobahn taxi a teeth-rattling 630bhp. It takes some courage to modify one of the greatest performance luxury cars of all time, but we’ll give DaraM5 a solid thumbs-up for doing it right.
I’ve seen enough restoration projects to know that they’ll test the patience, skill and character of even the most experienced petrolhead. I can also tell you that there’s nothing like taking a freshly-restored muscle car out for a drive. CTzen Drew Holt decided to try his hand at resto-modding a 1968 Ford Mustang, and it’s pretty obvious that he did one hell of a job.
In addition to being one of the cleanest 50-year-old Fords out there, this pony’s got enough performance parts to hold its own against modern street warriors. Count us thoroughly impressed.
Retro muscle cars aren’t the only things getting restored these days. CTzen Cam Payne decided to turn back the clock on this 1996 BMW 328i, and the end result ought to make you take your hat off to him. This is one pretty E36, and we’re not just talking about the excellent custom graphics. Perhaps the only thing that’s even more respectable than the build is the fact that Cam uses this BMW as his daily driver, putting on over 60 miles per day!
The Nissan S-Chassis is one of the most popular tuner cars out there, which means there are a lot of them which are pretty sketchy-looking builds. This is most definitely not one of those cars. CTzen Jaime Louise Skelding clearly takes her S13 seriously, and her tuning talent speaks for itself. This is one nice Nissan, and we’re willing to bet that it’s done its fair share of reverse entries…
Not every awesome BMW has an M badge on it. Case in point: CTzen Ian Newnham’s 2002 BMW 330i Sport Touring. Although six-cylinder 3-series wagons are pretty cool by themselves, this one’s even more awesome than most. Ian’s ride is one of only a few E46 330i estates on the road with a manual gearbox, which is a surefire way to get a petrolhead to start salivating. Judging by the Nurburgring action shots in his Garage post, Ian likes to go fast in his grocery-getter. We think that’s pretty awesome.
CTzen Ben Hunt actually added two restored Sprites to the Car Throttle Garage this month. We’ve decided to include the yellow one (which he calls ‘Mightyboy’) in this round-up. Although the Austin-Healey doesn’t have a reputation for being a speed demon, Mightyboy is one hell of an exception. It has independent rear suspension from a Subaru Impreza WRX, a carbon fibre/Kevlar body, and the F20C engine from a Honda S2000. Let that sink in for a bit. This ain’t your granddad’s Sunday cruiser.
Feast your eyes on this clean, cared-for, and candy apple red JDM legend. This Toyota MR2, owned by CTzen StefMR2, is one of the finest examples of Toyota’s legendary mid-engined sportscar that we’ve ever seen on Car Throttle. We wouldn’t blame you if one of these pictures became the wallpaper on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Mazda 323s don’t quite have the same popularity in the tuning community as, say, the Honda Civic. However, when done properly, they can end up being some of the best compact Japanese builds on the street. For proof, please refer to CTzen decaydhans’ 1990 323F. It’s easy to get carried away and rice out little cars like these, but we think this Mazda’s safely on the tasteful side of things. And it has pop-up headlights, so of course we love it…
Last, but certainly not least, we have CTzen Theodore’s project car. You might be wondering what a homely-looking old Volvo is doing in this collection of petrolhead favourites. There’s a pretty good reason for this: it’s got some serious jam. Yes, this physics teacher’s delight is jam packed with 512whp from a five-cylinder engine. But this brick is far from being finished - Theodore says he wants to crank out 900 horses to the poor, poor tyres on this thing. We think that’s a wonderful idea.
