10 Celebs Getting Pulled Over By Cops

Between the fast cars, the sense of entitled invulnerability and the easy access to recreational pharmaceuticals, it's no wonder the 5-0 often get involved

Read on as the good folks over at PassSmart give us the lowdown on the top 10 celebs who really need some extra driving lessons...

George loses his 'Freedom'

George Michael almost lost his "Freedom" in 2007 when the police pulled him over for driving under the influence of drugs. The incident cost him his license for a couple of years and saw him doing a stint of community service. You'd have hoped that he'd learn from the experience and head back to driving school; but three years later... Wham! Michael drove his Range Rover straight into the front of a camera shop. Has this finally convinced him to drive a little more carefully? You gotta have "Faith".

Hit me Britney one more time

Britney Spears has notched up so many driving no-nos over the years, it looks as if she's trying to collect the full set. Driving with a baby on your lap? Check. Leaving your vehicle in the middle of the road, unattended, while you wander off? Check. Hit and run, driving without a license and running over a paparazzo's foot? Bingo - full house!

#Crashing!

Astonishingly enough, Charlie Sheen has never actually been pulled over. He's not the luckiest car owner, though: two of his rides have turned up at the bottom of a cliff, apparently after being stolen.

Keeping up with the Kardashian

The California Highway patrol found themselves keeping up with the Kardashians when they spotted Kim Kardashian driving her custom Rolls Royce Ghost without licence plates. Apparently the lavishly-tanned reality show doyenne keeps them in the glove compartment. Sounds... reasonable?

One night in cuffs

Paris Hilton may be famous largely for being famous but she added a little notoriety to the mix by tanking up and getting into her Mercedes McLaren SLR. Cops pulled her over after they noted her erratic driving and found her over the limit.

Baby, baby, baby, noooo!

Pint-sized pop pixie Justin Bieber undermined his squeaky-clean image when his chrome Fisker Karma was pulled over after cutting off a California Highway Patrol officer. Now he's just squeaky.

Ferrari Enzo? Absolutely smashing!

Actor and stand-up comic Eddie Griffin exited a charity race in spectacular fashion when he hit the accelerator rather than the brake and rammed a rare Ferrari Enzo into a concrete barrier. Griffin walked away relatively unscathed; the £930,000 Ferrari was a write-off.

Mad Driving

January Jones found herself in hot water after crashing her Range Rover into not one but three parked cars. The Mad Men star claimed that she lost control of her vehicle while escaping from the paparazzi. She wasn't arrested and the LAPD decided that she'd committed no crime, although her car was impounded.

Evading the papz

The snap-happy pap were also blamed after LeAnne Rimes pranged the car in front of her while trying to outrace photographers. Just a month before, the unlucky singer had suffered a minor car crash.

The Orange County Jail

For terrible celebrity driving, it's hard to top the antics of Mischa Barton. After dropping fellow celeb Nichole Richie off at the tanning parlour, Barton drove Richie's Merc into a gate. The actress failed to stop and left her friend's bumper behind. Later she topped even this performance; she was stopped by police who found her driving down two lanes of traffic, using no signals and under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. Barton was later charged with DUI and driving without a license.

While most of us will never have to wrestle with the temptation to get into a Ferrari while under the influence of a jeroboam of Bollinger, we can still learn something from celebrity driving disasters. Even a small amount of alcohol can compromise your driving (as can other substances); allowing yourself to be distracted - whether it's by photographers or texting with your mates - can wreck your world in moments. A safer road is everyone's responsibility.
