1200hp Veyron Vitesse Vs 1140hp Koenigsegg Agera R: Place Your Bets
Two of the world's most expensive, fastest and most powerful cars have taken to the tarmac in a drag race dual every petrolhead has wanted to witness since the Agera R's first appearance in 2011.
The Veyron Vitesse - as you probably already know - officially set the record as the world's fastest and most expensive convertible. It carries a price tag of £1.4m, is powered by the Veyron's venerable 8.0-litre W16 engine (good for 1183bhp), and has a top speed of 255mph. 0-62mph comes up in a not too shabby 2.6sec.
The Koenigsegg Agera R, by comparison, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 engine and costs a cool £1m. The 1400kg rear-drive R (almost 600kg lighter than the four-wheel drive Veyron) has a quoted top speed of 273mph when running on biofuel. 0-62mph comes up in 2.9sec here.
