This 1968 Austin Mini Van has been described by Silverstone Auctions, where it is soon to go under the hammer, as a “time warp.” We’d say that’s a pretty accurate description, considering it has covered just 302 miles since it was bought new 47 years ago.

The original owner, Miss G. Crumcott from Northern Ireland, bought the car new for £400, and registered it on 14 March 1968. Unfortunately she never managed to pass her driving test, so the car sat unused under a pile of newspapers for nearly 30 years. In 1997 it was bought by a local BMC Mini dealer before being sold onto the current owner.

The wonderful thing about this car is the fact it really is unrestored. It still has the original plastic seat protectors, rubber floor mats, and exhaust, as well as the same crossply Dunlop tyres it was wearing the day it left the factory. There’s even the original toolbox that came with the car, which remains unopened.

This lovely Mini Van goes under the hammer on 28 March at NEC in Birmingham.
