Is 2 Years A Fair Jail Time For This Reckless Biker?

60 year-old biker Robert Hammond has been jailed for two years after helmet camera footage showed him speeding at 110mph in a 30mph zone and 153mph on a dual carriageway. He was clearly reckless, but is the punishment fair? Cast your vote!

That is stupid. At most a large fine and a week. There are far worse people that should be locked up. If he caused an accident and only injuried himself perhaps, but even then two years is just a waste if tax payers are paying for his unintended vacation..

very true, i dont get uk justice, all the hardcore criminals get suspended sentence and this guy gets 2 years in prison instead of suspended license.

there were multiple times in the video he posted where he could of easily killed someone. people like him should be removed from society for the safety of the general public. there have been situations like this before where the outcome was that innocent people died and people were crying for blood, yet when by sheer luck the criminal doesn’t hurt anyone people act like nothing happened. if anything 2 years is too short.

The BBC thought they heard Richard Hammond and acted quickly to lock him up to give Top Gear a chance.

What? 2 years? Geez, I know he was reckless, but he doesn’t deserve that!

Why should we pay, when he should? No tax wasted on him, just a hefty fine.

Just give him a huge fine and suspend his license for 2 years and make him go to defensive driving courses in order to get his license back after the two year wait

jail time was needed, but 2 years were too much

I don’t think any jail time would be fair tbh, a 2 years suspended license or something seen as nobody was actually hurt seems more fair to me.

They have done this too make an example of him and prevent other bikers behaving like this in the future… Not fair really seen as there is far worse that would get a milder punishment.

It is stupid too because how many people will hear of this and take this into consideration when on the road? Also, you’d probably forget what happen to this guy in two weeks or heat of the moment. It is like being cracking down hard on drugs. It doesn’t work, you don’t deter people like that. Other people have stated that revoking his license wouldn’t work either because he’ll just drive illegally anyways. So… he gets caught, the punishment is there for that.

I don’t think he should’ve received any form of punishment. Maybe a warning. In the United States if someone posted a video of themselves speeding, it would never be investigated.

Actually it has happened before in the US, but not all that common. Why you think all the racing in the US happens “In Mexico”?
