Following details and information on the standard Mercedes-Benz E-Class comes the release of the sport AMG model. Get used to seeing more and more of these AMG models on the road, as sales of the package have been steadily increasing and it is available on all variants across the E-Class model lineup.

Most of the changes to the AMG model are visual, per usual, as this is primarily an appearance package. Some of the most noticeable changes include the changed AMG front and rear aprons, larger front intake, sporty side skirts and all-new AMG specific 18 inch light-alloy wheels. I like the frosted rear tailight lenses too.

One thing I noticed is the modified front grille, with less spokes (3) versus the thinner 4 on the standard E-Class. Overall the changes aren't drastic, serving to add a subtle sportiness to the car.

The tweaks continue in the interior, with contoured sport seats, a AMG steering wheel, Dinamica Microfibre/Artico man-made leather and chrome highlights throughout the interior in place of wood trim.

Featuring less prominently are the AMG floor mats, a sports pedal cluster and black roof lining which all make for a decidedly sportier feel in the interior then in the luxurious standard model.

One thing Mercedes hasn't mentioned in any of the press releases is changes in interior ambient lighting. The standard model has soft, warm lighting and I suspect this is something that will be changed as well, probably to a colder white or blue hue.

Other then visual modifications, performance enhancements include lowered suspension (15 millimeters) and perforated brake discs with silver-painted calipers. Those looking for bit more exciting E-Class can find it in the AMG; it's yours for $3900, depending on your engine selection.
