2012 Volkswagen Jetta GLI: A Beautiful Advert

Every so often here at Car Throttle we like to focus on the marketing and advertising side of the car world to detail the tactics manufacturers use to get their brands and models out in front of the eyes of millions of potential customers. One of our most popular posts focused on the advertising real estate war between Audi and BMW.

These two luxury brand behemoths are not the only manufacturers who want to have eye-popping adverts. Indeed Superbowl car adverts can run into the $millions just in terms of creative costs - we featured 16 car adverts from the Superbowl and those even feature A-list celebrities who wanted to make some extra coin to help promote cars for the world's leading brands.

The latest manufacturer to engage in a powerful advertising campaign is Volkswagen. To promote the 2012 Jetta GLI they have gone all out to create a beautiful advert, not too dissimilar to the famous Audi R8 V10 advert many of us saw here in the UK. I personally love watching how adverts are made from a film editor point of view as it shows just how much effort it takes to create an emotional masterpiece that has audiences reaching for their bank manager phonelines.

As a sedan, the Jetta has always been the big-brother to VW's ever popular Golf variant. But with this performance-esque GLI, the Jetta can now be seen as a potential rival to the Civic Si, MazdaSpeed 3 and Lancer Ralliart. Most impressive of all is the engine, the same 2-litre turbocharged four which cranks out 200 horsepower and a similar amount of torque.

So, what do you think of VW's attempt at a beautiful advert?
