The 2020 Mustang GT500 Will Rearrange Your Face With A 10.6s 0-100-0 Time
Moan all you want about the 2020 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 forgoing a manual transmission - its dual-clutch automatic gearbox is going to make the car extremely fast.
It enables the mightiest ‘Stang to launch off the line very quickly, and swaps each gear in just 80 milliseconds, making the most of the 5.2-litre supercharged V8’s 750bhp output. And then when you want to stop, you can rely on the biggest brakes ever fitted to a ‘Murican coupe. As a result, Ford says, the GT500 will do 0-100-0mph in 10.6 seconds. RIP your face.
Working together with the Tremec-supplied DCT is an ‘RPM-selectable’ launch control system, and to ensure your tyres are nice and toasty before you leave the line, there’s a line lock function for easy-peasy burnouts. However you have the car set, it’ll depart nicely, thanks to something Ford refers to as an “always-on pseudo launch control”.
There are five different driving modes to choose from. For ultimate straight-line performance you’ll be wanting drag mode, which features “‘over-torque’ shifts for uninterrupted power delivery,” Ford says.
When it comes to slowing down again, the GT500 uses 420mm two-piece discs up front squeezed by six-piston Brembo calipers. Anyone speccing the Carbon Fiber Track Package can expect to leave the line and come to a stop especially quickly, thanks to the included 20-inch carbon wheels being shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
The 2020 Shelby GT500 will launch in the US next year. As far as we know, it won’t be making it to the UK via official channels. Boo.

Dom: you owe me a 10 second car
Brian: calls FBI agent yo, can you send me a GT500?
“it’s so fast, it can totally destroy your face” - some random British bloke-
Thats how long my jeep takes to get to 60 lol
That’s gonna be a quick one
My Corvette runs a 6 second 115mph 1/8 mile on street tires. I’m sure it can slow back down to 0 in the remaining 4 seconds as the mustang. That being said my car makes 770hp/670torque at the wheels and weights a good bit less. The fact that the Mustang can almost match that from the factory is very impressive.
That’s insane
