The 440bhp SR8 RSX Is The Maddest Radical Yet
Before we go any further, let me give you a couple of figures: 440bhp, and 860kg. The first number is the power output from this new SR8 RSX’s 3.0-litre V8, and the second is how much the whole car weighs. Yep, should be pretty fast then. However, unlike some of its other products, Radical’s latest offering of lunacy on four-wheels won’t be something you can take for a rather uncomfortable drive on the road; this thing’s a proper race car.
At £131,940, it’s ruddy expensive, but you get quite a bit for your money. The V8 mounted in the middle isn’t any old eight-banger, it’s a bespoke unit which will rev all the way up to an ear-splitting 10,500rpm, and can survive 40 hours of track abuse before needing a rebuild. As well as developing 440bhp, it also kicks out 280lb ft of torque.
The 17-inch wheels hide some almightily strong brakes, while the whole deal is built on an FIA-compliant tubular steel space frame chassis. Oh, and there’s an optional FIA-spec 100-litre fuel cell, should the gentleman racing driver want to do a spot of endurance driving. The cockpit features a pair of water resistant bucket seats which are HANS device compatible, plus a data logger which is able to transmit all the key info to your faithful pit crew.
Does this sound like the sort of mad race car/extreme track day weapon you’ve been waiting for? It’s available to order now, with the first cars being delivered early next year.
