5 Reasons Why Driving Alone Is Totally Awesome
1. The human blowoff valve
I fart, you fart, Donald Trump is a fart, so let’s get this one out the way first. Driving alone means that you don’t feel obliged to hold anything in, which will make you concentrate better on driving. Why will it make you concentrate better? Because allowing your body to do what it wants to do will stop you from getting a distracting stomach ache.
So the next time you let loose and a passenger gets mad, simply tell them that you did it because you love them and because holding it in would have made you more likely to crash. That’s science.
2. Weight reduction, bro
Driving alone means that you’ll get the best power-to-weight ratio you can. This is especially important in a small car where power is lacking. Take my MX-5 as an example. Standard, this 1000kg roadster produces around 130hp (1.8-litre, UK-spec), and with my 77kg weight, that’s a power-to-weight ratio of around 121hp per tonne. Factor in the weight of another 77kg person on board, and that drops quite dramatically to 113hp per tonne. Not only does passengering up reduce your fuel economy, it also makes your car way slower.
3. You call all the shots
If you want to keep driving until the tank runs dry, then go ahead. But you can bet that a passenger will not make this possible. Toilet stops are commonplace as are a ‘five minute stretch break’ that are never just five minutes. If you’ve got somewhere to be, you’ll get there quicker alone.
4. Just being your weird self
For most of us, being behind the wheel of a car is our happy place. And when we’re happy, we like to be uninhibited. Driving alone, then, means that you can rock out to Phil Collins without being judged, or dance in your seat like a mentalist (while wearing your seatbelt!).
5. Nobody complains about your driving!
There’s NOTHING worse than having a critical passenger who just loves to point out a harsh gear shift, or who gets scared at the smallest things (even though there was nothing to be worried about).
As they say, the only negative thing in your life should be camber, so ditch the passenger and drive happy!

I will admit, I am highly guilty of swing my head to the music while driving alone. Good post, I would never road trip on my own but driving home from work alone is peaceful and enjoyable!
The drive home from work is a special time to ones self. Especially on a Friday after working away! :D
with driving alone you mean waiting on the side of the road for the owner of the car to unlock you?
But what about bae?
I almost make a friend cry, it was alone a 3am in the morning so I pulled my handbrake to a well executed u turn. #ThingsYouCanDoAloneWithoutScaring

The progressive house music does it though in the night
True! The way I drive with passengers is completely different to when I’m alone.
Also, I didn’t know Alex was 77kg.. He looks more like 85kg+ (not because of mcdonalds, but muscles add weight). I’m probably about the same height but slightly less muscular and I’m almost 85kg…
Thank you for sharing this information.
Damn, if I was 85kg at 5ft 7in, I’d have serious heart problems!
I’m 114 pounds
I’m 7 cm taller and 4 kg heavier than Alex :D I have always felt that i’m tiny, but not anymore Thanks Alex! :D
