5 Reasons Why Supercar Ownership Is the Best
The simple act of pressing “engine start” on the Ferrari and being serenaded by the roar of the engine still feels dreamlike. Contrary to Alex, who wrote “5 Reasons why supercar ownership has zero appeal to me,” here is why supercar ownership is THE BEST!
The simple act of pressing “engine start” on the Ferrari and being serenaded by the roar of the engine still feels dreamlike. Contrary to Alex, who wrote “5 Reasons why supercar ownership has zero appeal to me,” here is why supercar ownership is THE BEST!
1. Supercars are a lot of FUN
Whether you are spiritedly driving through twisty mountain roads, or stuck behind a Prius, supercars are a lot of fun! Enjoying a supercar is not only about being able to spank your car’s engine, suspension, and chassis hard, but about experiencing the sensation it has to offer. We all know that our cruises can be easily ruined by being stuck in traffic, but simply looking in my rearview mirror and seeing a glorious V8 trembling makes me smile. Even when the Ferrari is within its limits, you experience the balance and composure on a turn, the recoil when you switch gears as you accelerate aggressively on the on-ramp, and the resonating sound of the V8 when you rev just for entertainment. I fully agree that while the limits of a supercar are not safely and legally reachable on a public road, there is more to a supercar than just driving to the limit - it is a matter of savoring that experience and smiling when you reminisce.
2. It is always an occasion to drive it
A lot of people consider supercars and hypercars to be fragile and highly strung, but the truth is, modern generation supercars are becoming increasingly durable and drivable, with features like adjustable suspension, parking sensors, extended warranty, and improved visibility. There are certain roads I avoid at all cost, and I do have to plan the route to take. There’s nothing wrong with planning ahead - I almost treat it like a mission and it brings that element of occasion to my experience. Getting into an exotic is like wearing a bespoke suit; it turns every moment into a special occasion.
This isn't sanity
3. It’s cool to own a supercar
You may think that supercar owners lack the imagination, and dedication, to truly customize and modify their car to create their unique one-of-a-kind masterpiece…that they simply use their cash surplus to have the engineering monkeys scientifically create the perfect machine for them. Car enthusiasts like to believe that a true petrol head should use their cash surplus to do a Bugatti engine swap on a Mini. I agree: modifying and customizing your car is a journey into understanding the components and working of your car to create a unique one-of-a-kind machine. However, for some, there is another journey that is just as exciting that you may not be aware of. This is the journey into yourself, to test your strength, character, and determination to be able to earn your way into supercar ownership. The journey and sacrifices I made to realize a boyhood dream of owning a poster supercar is a representation of my true passion and dedication for cars.
4. Envy will drive you, haters gonna hate
Truth be told, owning an exotic will attract more envy than panty. That being said, part of the challenge of owning an exotic is getting over the mental barrier of keeping your car tucked away and protected. The question you have to ask is, would you give up the opportunity to enjoy your passion because of how others may react? I have learned to let go of the fear of envy; instead, I use that envy, as a driver, to achieve greater things. As odd as it may sound, the envy is now a reason why I love supercars, as I am able to convert that energy into motivation that will push me and drive me harder to accomplish greater things. Let haters hate.
5. Supercars are engineering masterpieces!
I leave the engineering to the experts: each time I have tried to modify my supercar in Forza Horizon 2, I ruined it. A supercar is not only an engineering masterpiece but an unforgettable life experience. If you knew and saw me, you’d know that I take the subway to work, cut my own hair, and always search for discount codes before purchasing anything online. Yes, I am by nature frugal, but I have also come to the realization that life is about experiences, and this is certainly one experience that does not come with a coupon code.
To some, exotic cars are just a status symbol, an extension to their lavish lifestyle. However, there are those that truly appreciate the journey to obtain, experience, and savor the thrill of an exotic car. To all of you who spent your childhood playing with toy cars, I invite you to join me in my adventures until you realize your own automotive dream.
I dedicate this article to my mom, who bought me my toy cars, and encouraged my life-long journey.
