6 Cars The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Can Match To 60mph

It’s official: the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will cost you $62,135. Well, if you want a coupe - the convertible model is a shade more at $69,135. And while we’re on the subject of the new sixth-gen Camaro, Chevrolet also confirmed this week that the 1LE package will cost $4500 for the V6 ‘LT’ (giving you SS suspension) and $6500 for the V8 ‘SS’ (giving you magnetic ride suspension plus the ZL1’s electronically controlled limited-slip differential).

But if I may go back to that ZL1 price one moment: it’s quite a bit in the land of pony cars, isn’t it? The still-rather-brisk LT is just $26,305, after all. However, you get a hell of a lot of poke for your cash: we already knew that the 2017 ZL1 was putting out 641bhp and 640lb ft of torque, but now Chevrolet has revealed the performance figures. Thanks to the extra power from the 6.2-litre supercharged ‘LT4’ V8 and a 100kg drop in weight compared to the old one, we’re looking at a car that’ll do 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, a standing quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds at 127mph, and hurt your face with 1G cornering forces.

So, where does that 3.5sec 0-60 time put the new ZL1 in the world of fast cars? Here’s a surprising list of cars it’ll match to 60mph:

No they didn’t the 2017 GT-R can go 0-60 in 2.9

Before long, I’ll bet even a 0-100km/h time of 3.5 seconds will become rather pedestrian.

How much did the previous ZL1 use to cost?

$54,000 but it had 580 hp.

But how do u know u like somethin unless uve driven it. Its not that hyped as it is. Ask any supercar owner or even race car driver, tracksters whoever. Theyll give u the same answer. I love all kinda cars, and i have an s2000 which is import too. But analog asf !

I just hope they don’t screw up the suspension geometry like they did with the z06. A top of the line performance car should not feel uncontrollable to Randy f*ing Pobst.

Not necessarily the geometry, but the first car Randy drove was delivered to the test with its rear suspension way out of alignment. Chevrolet took the car back, had everything adjusted properly, and updated the damper programming. Sent it back to Randy who said it felt much better and the manual transmission ran faster than the nismo gtr.
