Why do you think that all base models have plastic bumpers. Can’t remember a car that have it since… 2005?
But they look like sleepers. It’s all about that surprise power.
You know, if they spent all that money to make the bumper form the shape of the body they are highly unlikely to leave the bumpers unpainted no matter how bargain basement they are.
Even a CAD 9900 Nissan Micra / March these days have body colored bumpers.
