7 Reasons To Get Excited About Nascar In 2016
Nascar is renowned for its action-packed, incident-filled racing. From wild crashes to brilliant overtakes, side-by-side battles and controversy, there is never a dull moment.
2. A talented field
The Nascar Sprint Cup field is full of brilliant drivers, which is what makes the championship showdowns so entertaining. From 2015 title winner Kyle Busch to Tony Stewart (who will miss the start of the season after suffering a back injury in an ATV crash), Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson, there are some big names lining up on the grid in 2016.
One of the best things about Nascar is you never know what will happen during the races. It’s just so unpredictable and that’s what makes it so exciting to watch. Sure, some events are duller than others, but there’s always plenty to talk about. And with so many top drivers, you actually head into a race weekend unsure who will take the win (unlike other motorsports).
4. Young talent moving on up
The three national Nascar championships provide drivers with a great ladder to the top tier, the Sprint Cup. The Truck and Xfinity series is a brilliant training ground for young drivers and several exciting talents, including Chase Elliott and Chris Buescher, will make the move up to the Sprint Cup in 2016.
Nascar recently announced the arrival of the Caution Clock to the Truck series in 2016. After the starts and restarts, there will be a caution every 20 minutes. While many (including myself) are not fans of the rule, it will certainly be interesting to see how this unusual new rule will impact the racing and action. Because for all we know, it could be extremely positive.
6. New low-downforce set-up
Last year a low downforce set-up was tried out at several Nascar rounds, with a reduced spoiler size and other component changes (like the front splitter edge and radiator pan) cutting the level of downforce considerably. The modifications had rave reviews and have been introduced for 2016. The new package will be run at every track other than Talladega and Daytona.
7. The season starts very soon!
Another reason to be excited about Nascar this year is that the new season starts very soon! The first official round of the Sprint Cup is the Daytona 500 on the 21 February and there are 36 rounds in total, a packed schedule and so much action to watch!

my favorite part!
Reasons to love NASCAR, V8’s, low downforce pack racing where ability to handle traffic and still take the smoothest like matters most. Plus, its a car racing sport where everyone is running very similar power and aero if not identical therefore the drivers are whats tested the most, F1 and WEC as much as i love them are more about car development than the actual drivers talents, ofcourse there are a few exceptions such as andre lotterer, beniot Treluyer, Rocky and Webber…infact there are a lot of good drivers in WEC, but still its alot about development whereas NASCAR seems to be about the drivers/teams
I think the new caution rules are going to ruin some good battles. Sure it will tighten the field and some of the best racing is on restarts but it’s unnecessarily changing the long term strategy for teams with fast cars
Oh, wait….
