The 8 Best Racing Moments From The Brazilian Grand Prix
The penultimate round of the 2015 F1 season took place at the classic Interlagos circuit in Brazil. Sadly, it wasn’t an iconic race, with Nico Rosberg taking a controlled fifth win of the season, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. However, it did throw up some very memorable moments.
1. Rosberg holds off Hamilton
At the start, Rosberg got away well but Hamilton drew alongside him on the run to the first corner. The German had the inside line and retained the lead, with Hamilton having to settle for second on the opening lap. The Mercedes duo quickly pulled away from the chasing pack.
2. Disaster for Sainz Jr
Carlos Sainz Jr’s day at the office on Sunday couldn’t have gone much worse. A problem with the engine on his way to the grid meant he had to start from the pits, and then he only made it to Turn 5 before he was forced to pull over and retire. He will be hoping for better luck in Abu Dhabi!
3. Verstappen attacks Perez
Max Verstappen’s Toro Rosso was down on power compared to Sergio Perez’s Mercedes-engined Force India, but that didn’t stop him from overtaking the Mexican in spectacular style.
The 18-year-old proved his worth once again with a stunning pass around the outside at Turn 1, which gave him the inside line for the second corner. That’s how it’s done!

4. Maldonado is back
Pastor Maldonado has been a bit quiet this season but he was back to his best in Brazil, clashing with Marcus Ericsson as he attempted an overtake at Turn 1. He braked a bit too late and collided with the Sauber’s left-rear wheel, which tipped Ericsson into a spin. Unsurprisingly he was hit with a five-second time penalty.
5. Radio silence
Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg both expressed their frustration at the regular team radio communication during the Brazilian GP. First, Button told McLaren to stop chatting to him through the corners. Later on, Rosberg simply told Mercedes to stop talking.

6. Rosberg victorious
Rosberg secured second place in the championship with a faultless drive to his fifth win of the season and second in Brazil. After struggling to keep with his team-mate and suffering with tyre wear late on, Hamilton finished as runner-up at Interlagos, eight seconds behind Rosberg.
Vettel completed the podium, with Kimi Raikkonen fourth and (amazingly) the last runner on the lead lap.
7. Cheeky Vettel

For whatever reason, Vettel decided to dodge the “master of ceremonies” and run onto the podium before the other two, with his helmet. It was a weird sight.
8. McLaren make the finish
Both McLarens finished the race, a big shock, albeit in 15th and 16th. After his antics in qualifying, memes and Gifs continued to be posted throughout Sunday, some bringing fun to what was a relatively lacklustre race.
