8 Hot Wagons We Wish Were Real
BMW M5 Touring (G30)
We’re maybe jumping the gun a bit here since the saloon version of the new 5-series was only revealed yesterday, and the M5 won’t be revealed until well into next year, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that there won’t ever be an G30 M5 Touring.
It’s a safe but depressing bet to make: only the E60 M5 was built in reasonable numbers as an estate, and for the most recent F10 M5, BMW hasn’t bothered making a Touring version at all.
To help us imagine this glorious car we’ll never have, X-Tomi Design rendered this vision of a G30 M5 Touring for CT. And it got us thinking - what other estates do we wish were real? Here are a few other wagons that only exist in render form from X-Tomi’s back catalogue:
Ford Focus RS
The Ford Focus RS is a 345bhp, all-wheel drive mega hatch that can handle pretty much anything for just over £31,000. But you know what it can’t do? Carry a pair of big dogs in the boot. If only Ford made an estate version - then you’d have an unbeatable all-round performance car.
BMW F80 M3
There’s never been a production M3 estate, because BMW reckons the demand is just too low. For now, the closest you can get is the Alpina D3 Touring.
Tesla Model S
With a massive boot, a capacious frunk and even the option of an extra pair of kid seats, the Model S is hardly lacking in the practicality stakes. But still, how cool would an estate version be?
Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Sportwagon
If Alfa Romeo is serious about taking on the likes of the BMW 3-series and Audi A4, an estate ‘Sportwagon’ version of its Giulia saloon will almost certainly happen. But a wagon version of the hot, 503bhp Quadrifoglio? We could see that going either way, but let’s keep our fingers firmly crossed.
VW Golf GTI Clubsport
We get why VW doesn’t make this: the Edition 40 Clubsport is - after all - supposed to be a more focused version of the regular GTI, so adding the weight of an estate body makes no sense. No harm in dreaming, though.
BMW 7-series Touring
Estates simply don’t exist at this end of the market, and probably never will. That’s understandable, but a shame, as evidenced by the majesty of this ‘7-series Touring’!
Subaru WRX
This isn’t the first time we’ve featured X-Tomi’s vision of a WRX wagon, as it’s a car we’ve been pining after for some time. The old WRX and WRX STI wagons were legendary for their blend of practicality and performance, and for that reason hugely popular, but sadly neither the current WRX or WRX STI is available in that bodystyle. Boo.

The Clubsport is something for JenstheGTIfreak(pizza)
OH YESSS. Wouldnt work really tho as the R is better as a wagon :P
You know, Jens isn’t the only guy that likes VW’s here. And there are people that know even more than him about VW.
I’m glad that this is real:
Yas V10 Powah!
the RS6 wagon with the modified gallardo V10 engine and the E60 M5 wagon with the bmw V10 are true legends of the wagon world
Most of these look really good, but that 7 series wagon and that alfa wagon stand above them all, they’re just sooooo beautiful
A successor for the Volvo 850R would be fine as well and a GTR state wagon.
V60 Polestar?
why not spice up a V70? it looks similar to the 850 in styling. even the 2017 one is similar.
It’s big enough to fit nearly anything a Minivan can. and cram in a 450BHP DRIVe 4 pot with AWD.
Only in cream yellow,Red and Green.
the V70 Polestar Tribute.
I get the idea about Polestar.
But it isnt the purpose built car , its a tune version :(
The 850R is made to compete in BTC thats why they gone so mad by changing the engine and lowered it down and everything.
Those Polestar just isnt mad enough.
Slightly😡
This is more like a hatchbach
Shooting brake, very cool
But what is this?
That’s a wagon shape without any of the wagon practicality. It’s a pretender, but you certainly have me intrigued, because I have no clue what it actually is other than reading the Ferrari badges.
The 7 series will be long as hell
*heavy breathing
i’m voting for 7-series
There is already a WRX (STI) wagon of sorts: the Levorg 2.0 GT-S
Although it’s Japan-only (and CVT) D:
I’m sad now… Subaru don’t sell Levorgs where i live
Haha
They’re also sold in New Zealand and Australia. Australia also gets the spec.B model, whereas New Zealand only gets the 2.0GT-S :(
Didn’t expect to see you here AJ!
At least the Subie Levorg does exist, and does have motorsport credentials in the BTCC, we can hope.
