#blogpost Hello CT and today I will tell you why it sucks being a petrolhead/car guy in India. I’ve seen versions of this by people of Hong Kong, Indonesia etc. So Here Are 8 Reasons why it….well lets just get on with it.

1. Aftermarket Support.

8 Reasons Why It Sucks Being A Petrolhead In India

Despite it being a major country and having a good local car market, India isn’t particularly strong in the aftermarket segment. Mainly because no one gives a sh*t. The only things a normal Indian gives a damn about are food and shopping. Sure, you might find a few garages, repair houses and even a few legit looking multi-storey shops but you go in and all you will find is local useless, fake parts. If you want something serious, there are just a very few opportunities like Red Rooster Performance.
Lets go ahead, shall we?

2. Lack of Proper Enthusiast Cars.

Thats the Abarth Punto, the only proper enthu car which won't bomb your pocket.
Thats the Abarth Punto, the only proper enthu car which won't bomb your…

In India, we don’t have a wide range of cheap, good, potential project cars like other countries. We have this small cluster of around 4-5 cars which are not in the market right now with a enthusiast tint to them, but in the new car market there’s just the Punto for a reasonable price. Forget enthusiast cars, there are not ANY cars which are just like: YEAH! Imma buy that, for a reasonable price of course, we don’t get any good cars. Also, Indian Roads are dominated by around 10-15 cars….’nuff said.

3. F*cking Ricers.

duh....
duh....

See that, that’s a replica of a Bugatti Veyron made by some assole. I mean what the fck man?!!! Also the thing is the original car (Suzuki Esteem) is one of the cars which qualify for a petrolhead car. On the roads, you see k*obheads who just put nonsense on their cars. Examples include bullbars on small little cars, roof rails for no reason and nonsensical trims everywhere on their cars, and you see people praising such hideous examples of torture on innocent, conventional cars. ‘Cause come on, we all know cars are also living breathing things, don’t we?

4. Rules? tf are those?

As useless as the wings ricers slap on
As useless as the wings ricers slap on

Ah…..here we go, So just in case you didn’t know, auto rickshaws own a large share in road traffic, and the people who drive them are not trained, so fck laws. Even the general public here, gives two shts about laws or such. Everyone drives like they’re the only ones on the road, not looking for kids, dogs or even other cars. The traffic police is also worthless… Motorcyclists drive on footpaths (sidewalks) and what not. On an average, there are 120 accidents in metropolitan cities per day in India. We’re the Switzerland of road rage.

5. Conditions of the Roads.

Just another Indian road
Just another Indian road

I don’t even know where to start with this. Our roads are so bad, they’re inexplicable. The only place to try your shiny new car would be to go to a nearby highway, because you’ll find potholes or some other road deficiency at every crossroad. The local authority also doesn’t care, you ask why? $$$$ thats why, how? The guys fix the roads temporarily BEFORE the rainy season so nobody can complain, with the contractors milking every penny they can. Obviously after the rain is done and dusted, the roads return to their form and the municipality gets moolah.

6. Buying a car.

Now then, India is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. And the auto industry is no exception. To buy a car you go through 5-6 stages to pay the money including the vehicle payment, tax and RTO fee. That’s where sht hits the fan. You have to pay the clerks money, illegal money/bribe and then only will they go through with it. Of course, the government doesn’t bat an eye because they themselves are money whors. So its not all happy when you buy a car.

7. Price of Cars

8 Reasons Why It Sucks Being A Petrolhead In India

Cars here are very overpriced, about 5-6 years ago, Volkswagens were considered high class vehicles and BMWs, Audis and Mercs are still considered high class vehicles, even general new cars are very overpriced, generally due to manufactures paying bribe to produce their cars. Lets get on with the last topic.

8.Stereotypes

8 Reasons Why It Sucks Being A Petrolhead In India

We Indians are one of the most judgemental people in the world. That’s even with cars. The worst, to me is the continuous discrimination against Fiat. Though they do make boring cars, yes. But the average buyer only buys boring cars. Whenever a new Fiat comes out, no matter how good it is, people say “Oh! Yeah its alright but its a fiat.” Seriously….Thats with many cars like whenever you see a car which is widely used as a private taxi, people say “arey yeh kya taxi chala raha hai” (look at that tw*t, he’s driving a taxi)

So on that bombshell we end our blogpost. Let me know what you think about this post in the comments.

Yeah but Polo gti will be of 15-20 lakhs. A reasonable price would be 10 lakhs or below. Otherwise in that money you can buy a used audi or something

And my heart shattered to pieces when Mitsubishi announced its first Evolution entry to India 5 years ago which was the 291HP Evo X which was priced at a whopping $112,000 after all the import duties and it only came with a 10,000 kms or 6 months warranty :/ Only 6 cars were sold before Mitsubishi discontinued it.
2 of them have been wrecked, so the chances of owning one in the used car lot is slim to none.
