According To Forza 6, The Ford GT Will Have 621bhp
Ford has been keeping tight-lipped about the new Ford GT’s performance figures. At the car’s reveal at the Detroit Auto Show in January, Ford claimed the car would have ‘more than 600bhp,’ but hasn’t said any more since. Well, unfortunately for Ford, it appears that Forza Motorsport 6 has just given the game away.
Normally we’d take these figures with a pinch of salt, but the Ford GT is Forza 6’s halo car, so you’d expect the figures to be correct. That being said, these could just be placeholder figures designed to put pesky journalists off the scent, but we reckon that’s unlikely.
If the game is to be believed, the GT’s twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 will make 621bhp and 539lb ft of torque, which seems a little low considering rivals such as the McLaren 675LT and Ferrari 488GTB make 666bhp and 661bhp respectively. The Ford’s weight is on a par with both those rivals, placing itself between them with a weight of 1310kg. The final tidbit of information revealed in the game is the GT’s 43/57 front/rear weight distribution.
It remains to be seen whether Ford will confirm these figures to be correct, but if it does turn out to be true it’ll be interesting to see if the GT’s handling technology will make up for its power deficit. Watch this space…
