The AeroMobil 3.0 Proves We're One Step Closer To Flying Cars
This is the AeroMobil 3.0, the latest design prototype of this impressive flying car. Built by Slovak engineer Stefan Klein, we’ve seen earlier versions of the car before, but now the design has taken another step towards being finalised.
The latest upgrade includes features that will be in the final product, such as avionics equipment, autopilot and an advanced parachute deployment system. The video footage shows that the car drives easily on the road with the wings tucked in so it doesn’t wipe out fellow motorists on the daily commute. Then, when you fancy taking to the skies, it takes a few seconds to let the wings unfold. A hundred metres or so of smooth ground is all it takes to get airborne.
As impressive as the kit is, we’re not so sure flying cars will become popular in built up areas for a very, very long time. To be fair to Klein, however, he acknowledges this fact, saying that the AeroMobil will be most useful in sparsely populated countries, where communities are linked by nothing but dirt roads.
