After Tesla Had To Back Out Of Its S, E, X Model Range, It Is Now Revealing 'The D'

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has tweeted that a new model will be unveiled on 9 October, and it has a rather suggestive name

Earlier this year Elon Musk revealed how a private joke nearly became a reality, until Ford stepped in to ruin everyone’s fun. With the Model S and Model X already under development, Musk joked that the next car would have to be a Model E, and the name stuck. Unfortunately, Ford holds the rights to the Model E name, and wouldn’t allow Tesla to use it. The car will instead be named the ‘Model III.’

So with the S, E, X model range quashed, it appears Musk’s dirty mind needed something else to amuse it. Today he tweeted that on 9 October, Tesla will ‘unveil the D.’ He later claimed this was unintentional, but we’re not so sure.

The revealing tweet also hinted that another model would be announced, but we’ll leave it to you guys to speculate on what suggestive name Tesla has come up with…
