Alfa Romeo Giulia Engine Lineup Leaked
Is there a more hotly anticipated car than the Alfa Romeo Giulia? The Italian manufacturer has gone in hard on this BMW 3-Series rival, creating a skunkworks team of engineers to ensure that it lives up to the hype. The automotive world is holding its collective breath in anticipation of what is truly a make or break car for Alfa, so any tidbit of news will grab our attention.
What we have here, however, is more than just a tidbit. This document, which was originally posted on the Alfa Romeo 952 Facebook page, appears to detail exactly what engines will be on offer when the Giulia’s order books open some time next year.
The three engines on offer include a 2.0-litre GME (Global Medium Engine) petrol, with 200hp, 250hp and 280hp power outputs. There’s also a 2.2-litre diesel engine that makes 150hp, 180hp and 210hp, and, of course, that 2.9-litre V6 in the Quadrifoglio Verde model, which features Ferrari tech and power outputs of 490hp and 500hp. There’s also the expected mix of automatic and manual transmisisons, and all- and rear-wheel drive layouts.
The legitimacy of the document is yet to be verified, but if true it would tally up with what you’d expect from a car that’s targeting the business sector; moderately-powered petrols and diesels, with a smattering of more powerful engines for enthusiasts. Only time will tell if it can match up dynamically as well as on paper.
