The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Carabinieri Is The World’s Coolest Police Car
Months before the Giulia Quadrifoglio goes on sale to the general public, Alfa Romeo has delivered two production-spec cars to the national military police of Italy - the Carabinieri. Adorned in the unit’s iconic dark blue and red livery, the pair of Alfas look suitably menacing; you certainly wouldn’t want to see one in your rear-view mirror.
Disappointingly, the cars remain mechanically identical to their civilian counterparts, but then again, 503bhp and a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds should be more than sufficient for the job at hand. And ever the traditionalists, the Carabinieri have opted for a six-speed manual transmission. Sounds like our kind of police force.
On the inside, the car looks classy as ever, even with all the extra kit. The police radio, passenger-side tablet and switchgear for the lights and siren have all been integrated beautifully. Meanwhile the defibrillator, weapons storage compartment, portable cooling units and LED torch holders have been hidden from view.
Suprsingly, these cars won’t be used for high-speed pursuits; they’re much too valuable. Instead, they will be used for ceremonies, rapid emergency response and special operations, such as transporting blood and organs to critical patients. In fact, their duties will be very similar to those of the Lamborghini Huracan used by the Polizia di Stato.
We’ve seen plenty of incredible police vehicles over the years, but we reckon this is the coolest of the lot. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments below!
