The Alfa Romeo Giulia QV Has Reportedly Smashed The BMW M4's Nurburgring Time By 9 Seconds
It’s pretty clear the Alfa Romeo Giulia has one main objective: to give the BMW M3 a bloody nose. And even though this 503bhp V6-powered super saloon hasn’t even gone on sale yet, it appears to have swung the first punch already. How? By lapping the Nurbrugring in 7 minutes and 43 seconds, nine seconds faster than the M3’s coupe sister, the M4. Well, according to some potentially dubious reports in the Italian media, anyway. Nothing has been confirmed by Alfa itself.
It is worth bearing in mind that as this alleged time was set by a manufacturer, it would have been achieved after weeks of testing, with a team of engineers on hand for analysis and setup changes. The M4’s time on the other hand was set by Auto Motor und Sport magazine, and even though the car was driven by Horst von Saurma, a ‘Ring specialist, those manufacturer resources make one hell of a difference. Still, nine seconds is a pretty big gap, so we’ll be interested to see if the Italian saloon really did lap the Nordschleife in that mighty impressive time.
