The All-Carbon Ruf SCR Has A 503bhp N/A Flat-Six And You Want One
I’ve been at the Geneva Motor Show this week, which means if I hear the words ‘mobility’, ‘connected’ or ‘autonomous’ one more time, I might just tear my rapidly greying hair out.
Thankfully, there are companies out there that take a thoroughly old-school approach to the world of cars, blending what’s best about the past with materials and know-how from the present. And few are doing it quite as well as Ruf, neatly demonstrated by its Geneva showpiece, the SCR.
Here, we have retro Porsche 911 styling, a model name Ruf first used 40 years ago, and a naturally-aspirated flat-six. Sounds pretty old fashioned, right? Sure, but the SCR also has a carbonfibre body and monocoque. It’s been fitted with ultra high-tech pushrod suspension. The tyres are track-focused Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. Oh, and that flat-six - which displaces 4.0 litres - kicks out 503bhp. Given that the whole car weighs just 1250kg, it’s going to be seriously fast.
It’s also seriously expensive: a price isn’t mentioned in the press release, but Road and Track is reporting that Ruf will charge €650,000 for each of the 15 SCRs it will make in 2019.
Quite a figure, but if you were rich enough, you just would, wouldn’t you?

With a higher number of manifactured cars, mabye a less powerfull version and lower pricepoint, these cars would blow up in the car lovers scene.
With a price that high and so exclusive these cars always stay in the real of dreamcar.
Just a shame 99% of people will never own, drive or even see one on the street.
Insert standard 911 here
What ruf is doing with their newly developed “old” 911’s (remember the new ctr) proves what sort of guy alois ruf is. A serious car guy and the sort of man i want in charge of all the good names in the sports car industry.
