However, the team has also been working on World of Speed, a free MMO racing game due to release near the end of this year. Among the cars revealed are the super-rare Ruf RK Coupe and the 240mph McLaren F1. Not bad for their first 20; there’s enough variety to please everyone. Visit the World of Speed Facebook page to comment on which vehicle you would like to see next.

The environment in which you’ll be driving these cars looks quite promising, too. World of Speed will allow you to race in a variety of locations around the world on tracks like Bathurst and Monaco and real roads in cities like Moscow and London. The game encourages multiplayer interaction by making it easy to find other racers and form teams in which you rely on the skills of each player combined to earn higher rankings.

You can also form a motor club or join an existing club by applying in the club forums. These groups work together with a common goal to win Territory Battles and gain control of the game map. Seasoned racing game veterans are key members in motor clubs and will help coach you through your races to victory, so keep an eye out for these.

New cars, tracks gameplay modes and challenges will be added in the future as the game progresses. If you’re a Need for Speed World player, this new MMO might be just the game for you. It combines the social aspect of team gaming and showing off your rides with refined HD graphics and better physics. Like NFSW, World of Speed is also free to play. Although there are some items that can be purchased in the game, the developers vow that it will never be ‘pay to win’.

The final release date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to arrive early in 2015, exclusively for PC.
