The Alpine A110 Has Morphed Into A GT4 Racer
Want an Alpine A110 to take racing? Good news: you now have two cars to choose from. Following up the A110 Cup - which Alpine has created a one-make series around - we now have this A110 GT4.
The double wishbone suspension setup of the standard car has been retained, with the addition of race-spec springs and dampers. Beefier brakes have been supplied by Brembo, and the car now runs slick tyres. There’s a bigger wing at the back, a more aggressive splitter at the front, and a stripped-out interior with a racing bucket seat and a harness. Oh, and a fire extinguisher, should your race really go south.
It uses the same 1.8-litre turbocharged inline-four as the road car, only here, it’s been given “significant power upgrades” which haven’t been specified. We don’t have a power figure either, but Alpine has said that the A110 GT4’s power-to-weight ratio is 312bhp per tonne. Given that the standard, unstripped car tips the scales at 1080kg, that should give you a rough idea of the kind of boost the 242bhp stock engine has been given.
The car has been developed by French firm Signatech - Alpine’s “motorsport partner” - and will make its racing debut in 2019.

What are the gt4 regulation? I don’t see how it could win against the like of mclaren, bmw, porsche, aston martin or ginetta
I dont think that’s even the point
This is likely quite a lot lighter than those cars. The McLaren has to keep a lot of its road-going parts too, like power windows. AC, etc. to make it GT4 spec.
For example, the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport has 385 hp and weighs 1300kg (2866lbs), which means it makes approximately 296 hp per tonne. In stock form, the Alpine weighs 220 kg (485lbs) lighter than the racing version of the Porsche Cayman, which is 45 kg (100lbs) lighter than the road going version.
So say we assume the Alpine loses around 35 kg (77lbs) to convert to race trim, which puts it at a weight of 1045 kg. This means it needs to make 326 hp out of the engine, or 84 hp more than the road trim. If they were able to take more weight out of the car, then they obviously wouldn’t need as much power to get that power-to-weight figure.
Sorry for the long reply, I got kinda carried away with the numbers :P
Here you go

Is the low weight enough to compete woth supercars? It will definitely be an interesting battle. One thing it has over any other GT4 is the view! It looks gorgeus.
Looks great
To state my excitement by using the original review of TopGear:
“Look here, Alpine has done a GT4 version of the A110 and boy, does it look good.”
