The Alpine Vision Gran Turismo Is A Roofless Race Car You'll Wish Existed In Real Life
Believe it or not, it’s been well over a year since we saw the first Vision Gran Turismo concept hit our screens. And yet, the relentless tide of weird and wacky virtual cars shows no sign of letting up, with (unless we’ve lost count) number 11 now here thanks to Renault. It’s not badged as such, though, instead wearing the ‘Alpine’ branding of the sports and race car company Renault bought in 1973.
Like most of the previous Vision GT cars, it’s a futuristic-looking, long-slung machine with gigantic wheels at each corner. In the game, your Alpine will be powered by a 4.5-litre V8 developing 444bhp. With only 900kg to shift around, it should make for some rather spicy virtual hot laps.
We’re being treated to a full-scale model of the thing too, with Renault saying that they “couldn’t resist” producing one. If you fancy a gander, it’s currently on display at the Festival Automobile International in Paris.
Fancy a go in the virtual version? It’ll be available as part of a free Gran Turismo 6 update in March.
