American Traffic Police (Briefly) Swap Tickets For Turkeys
Good guy cops in Billings, Montana this week handed out Thanksgiving turkeys instead of traffic tickets.
Don’t jump ahead; they weren’t stopping major offenders and thanking them with tasty poultry. The Billings Police Department simply exchanged minor traffic tickets for frozen turkeys.
They also gave warnings, presumably about the guilty driver’s conduct, not about the dangers of under-cooking your festive bird. People who rolled through stop signs or was just a few miles per hour over the speed limit were given the Thanksgiving gift.
The meat-based generosity only lasted a day, but local drivers caught out and pulled over were plenty surprised and delighted by it.
Billings-based businessman Steve Goutanis reportedly donated the turkeys, while traffic officers Andrew Sanders, Brandon Ihde and Eric Schnelbach dished them out to the surprised drivers. They seemed to (oho!) go down well. Well done, Billings PD, that’s policing done right.
