Aston Martin Just Recalled All DB11s Over A Faulty Daimler Steering Column

Almost 4000 cars have been recalled by Aston Martin due to a faulty part supplied by Daimler

It’s recall time for every single Aston Martin DB11 ever sold, and it’s not because of an AM part. Yep, Aston is the latest company to be blighted by a faulty Daimler steering column, which can cause unintentional airbag deployments.

Over one million Mercedes-Benz-branded cars have been recalled due to the fault, which has also affected products from Nissan and its luxury division Infiniti. It’s all down to improper grounding, leading to electrostatic charges which can then set off airbags.

Thankfully, it doesn’t sound like there have been any serious injuries as a result. According to Daimler, there have been “a handful of instances where drivers suffered minor abrasions or bruises,” and nothing more.

According to Reuters, none of the 3873 DB11 owners have experienced any erroneous airbag deployments, and the work to fix the problem takes only two hours to do.

Customers probably won’t quite receive the same level of service experienced by Bugatti owners during a recent Chiron seat recliner recall, however. In that case, Bugatti reportedly dispatched “Flying Doctor” concierge technicians to inspect each of the affected cars…

Is it like something triggers them to go off?

Yeah, a sudden surge of electricity from the ground wires constantly connecting and disconnecting.

For those who don’t get the joke, Daimler is German, and German cars tend to have electrical issues

Can they also replace the Daimler turbo V8 (just in case if it’s faulty too) with an Aston Martin naturally aspirated V8

You need a time machine, to take you back to whatever era rose tinted glasses show you not another motor in a vehicle you do not own.

And now that I have checked your garage with a very nice turbocharged 718 (congrats btw, really, great car), this comment of yours becomes even more funny.

That’s the key thing that made the new vantage interesting to me xD, apart from styling

Nah, it’s just James Bonds’ way of discouraging car thieves. If he’s not there to do it, his car will punch you in the face.
