Audi Nanuk Is A 544hp, V10 Diesel Sports Car And Offroading Beast
Audi has finally unveiled their latest 'sports car' concept at Frankfurt International Auto Show 2013. However, in typical Audi concept car fashion, it's less of a sports car and more of a 'Lamborghini meets SUV', two-seater... thing. Following swiftly on from where the ItalDesign Giugiaro Parcour 4x4 (try saying that quickly) left off, the Nanuk Quattro shows off the German brand's future design philosophy and ability to whip up the world's automotive media into a crazed frenzy.
But to those of you who haven't caught wind of the Nanuk before today, the most shocking aspect might be the car's ability to perform equally well offroad as on the asphalt. While the Parcour had more ground clearance than an Audi Q7, the Nanuk has adaptive air suspension, allowing the ride height to be adjusted by up to 70mm.
But the fun doesn't stop there. Audi has dropped in a V10 TDI engine unit which apparently develops peak torque at 1500rpm, churns out an impressive 544 horsepower, 738 lb-ft of torque and can haul itself to 62mph in a gaseous 3.8 seconds!
Now let's be frank - this isn't the first sports car concept Audi has boasted about at an International Auto Show. Remember the V12 R8 TDI beast? Yeah, so do we, and we're still waiting to see it in the flesh. But even if we get some of the design cues we see on this Nanuk; those R8-esque vertical fins, the flatter hexagonal grille, and the new running lights, we'll be very happy bunnies indeed.
