Australian Police Department Adds BMW i8 To Its Fleet
As far as police cars go, this is a pretty cool one, isn’t it? It was handed over from BMW Sydney to the New South Wales police department this month and will cover the Rose Bay Local Area Command.
However, as we’ve seen before with these ultra-cool cop cars, this one isn’t a high-speed pursuit vehicle. Instead, it’s been created as a tool to “break down barriers between police and the community,” according to Superintendent Brad Hodde.
He went on to say: “It enables the community to come up and start talking about the car. That conversation then leads to them opening up and they find out that we’re not such bad people after all.”
It makes sense: from our experience, the i8 gets a lot of attention even when it isn’t liveried up like a cop car…

It looks soooo much better like this. Props to NSW Highway Patrol :)
Good for real supercar drivers, they can escape easy…
Chane Walker (HOLDEN SQUAD) (Cant think of anything to put here)
They did the same thing with a modified HSV GTS. It isn’t actually used as a cop car they just take it around to different things. It’s had 30k spend on the engine
What’s the point then
When they charge you with murder are they going to electrocute u
This only proves that cars unite the world.
All we have in the philippines are vios
Basically, its a PR Stunt. Again.
The i8 has a 3yl, right?
Like any high-performance sports car in the New South Wales Police Force, that’s gonna be used as a prop to lure people into a career in busting “hoons” in any modified car.
