The GTA V PC launch is delayed (again), leaving PC players behind while everyone else enjoys the GTA Online heists

GTA V is still the top earner in digital sales of video games in the world. This comes more than three months after its relaunch onto the next-gen consoles. The second place competitor in digital sales, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is trailing by a whopping 30 per cent. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive aim to keep the lead through the end of the first quarter in 2015 by dropping new content and launching on the PC.

The additional content will be available next Tuesday (10th March) for Xbox One and PS4 players. There has been no clear indicator whether or not the content will be on the Xbox 360 and PS3 as well. New Freemode Activities, Adversary Modes and Daily Objectives will release at the same time as the Heists.

The Online Heists have been awaited by players since the game’s first release in 2013. Finally, players can team up with their mates online to coordinate and execute advanced heists throughout the map. Each player takes on a role that is crucial to the success of the heist. In the package will come new vehicles, clothing and weapons. The new Daily Objectives will add a variety of challenges to help rack up extra GTA cash. There will be three new objectives each day, which can be stacked together to earn bonus cash.

New Freemode Activities will give players a chance to earn more RP rewards and GTA cash through small side missions to help the greater cause. Rockstar says:

Be on the lookout for calls from Lester, who may need help to distract the cops in a specific area while Lester’s accomplices finish their criminal business. Lamar may call looking for help destroying a vehicle or two, while Trevor and Ron need occasional help picking their business rival’s planes out of the sky.

New Adversary Modes are PVP challenges that will unlock as more heists are completed. Here are the three Adversary Modes that have been announced so far:

Come Out To Play: Shotgun wielding Hunters on ATVs and sport bikes aim to take down the Runners who try to make their way home in teams of three. The Hunters are limited to the one weapon, and they must stay on their bikes, but they have unlimited lives. The Runners have all their weapons to use, but only have one life each, and they are travelling on foot. Seems like a good match.

Siege Mentality: Players try to defend a location with any of their weapons they want in groups as large as four people. The attackers, however, can be in groups as large as six people. Though the attackers have unlimited lives, they are only able to use shotguns as weapons. It will be interesting to see who can stand their ground.

Hasta La Vista: It’s the not-so-classic tale of Truckers versus Cyclists. A team of big rig Truckers chase down the Cyclists, and try to crush them under the massive vehicles. The Trucker team wins if all the Cyclists are knocked out of the competition. If just one Cyclist is able to make it to the checkpoint, the Cyclist team wins. It may seem like a one-sided competition, but remember the bikes can potentially outmanoeuvre their opponents.

Finally, GTA V will be released for the PC on the 14th of April. Players have been waiting a very long time for this day, and this will now be the second time the date has been postponed. Rockstar has put a lot of hype behind the release, saying that the PC version is the most technically and graphically advanced version so far. There will be much more detailed graphics supported by ultra HD configurations to suit a wide array of displays and hardware. The PC version also includes the Rockstar Editor, which is a built-in program to record and edit original footage. Aware of the great dismay they might have caused their fans, Rockstar offered this statement:

Our apologies to PC gamers worldwide who have been counting down the days until the launch of the game, but a bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible, and to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC. As a gesture of thanks for your understanding, we will grant anyone who has pre-ordered the game an additional $200,000 in-game cash for use in GTA Online.
