Based On Bro-Science, The McLaren P1 Will Lap The Top Gear Track In A Record 1:13
The next season of Top Gear should be a big one, if this video is anything to go by. Here is on-board footage from a McLaren P1 lapping the Top Gear circuit at Dunsfold in a frankly incredible time.
The uploader appears to be a serial McLaren purchaser, with this video coming from an owner training day. The British manufacturer has told us that the owner was getting a first-hand account of just how quick the P1 is, with a McLaren development driver behind the wheel.
The driver heads out on to the track, and by our calculations puts in a time of 1 minute 13.2 seconds. Perspective? Currently sitting atop the Power Lap Board is the Pagani Huayra, which put in a time of 1 minute 13.8 seconds. Admittedly this is a rolling start, so we can expect to add a little time on for that.
Regardless, during the coming season, when the P1 hits the track with a single, passengerless Stig behind the wheel, it should seriously challenge for the top time. With the likes of the Porsche 918 and Ferrari LaFerrari no doubt throwing themselves into the fight, Series 21 could see records tumble. We can't wait.
