The Biggest Race Track In Scalextric History Is Going Up For Auction

This isn’t just any old Scalextric track. This is the biggest layout ever created by the company, and it is set to go up for auction at this month’s CarFest South.

Designed by Le Mans winner, ex-F1 driver and Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle, it features 44 of his favourite corners from the tracks currently on the Formula 1 calendar - from Monaco’s Casino Square, to Silverstone’s Copse and Spa-Francorchamps’ famous Eau Rouge/Raidillon complex. Imagine if F1 cars raced on a real track like that?

The Scalextric layout is made up of 177 pieces and is 45 metres long. It will be on Hornby’s CarFest South stand before being auctioned off, with 100 per cent of proceeds going to Children In Need.

Commenting on the insane track, Brundle said:

“I immediately wanted a figure of eight just like our beloved Suzuka, and could only dream of driving a series of corners such as scaling the mountain up to turn one in Austin before falling through the ‘Senna S’ of Brazil towards Silverstone’s fearsome ‘Copse’ corner. That’s just a small section. Now, we’ve built a model and so I will revert to my childhood for many laps.”
