The BMW 9-Series 'Has Been Given The Green Light'
BMW bosses have given the green light to a new 9-series model according to a report in Car Magazine. The new 9-series model will likely be a four-door, four-seat luxury coupe based on the new 7-series platform; the eagle eyed will question the odd numbering of a four-door BMW, but this is due to the fact that BMW has the 8-series name on ice and because it does not own the rights to the 10-series moniker.
With luxury and fast wafting in mind, the 9-series will feature BMW’s most impressive engines, namely the six-cylinder plug-in hybrid, the twin-turbo V8 and BMW’s V12 which could go on to power the top-of-the-range M9. A power figure of around 650bhp is expected.
The car’s styling could be similar to that of the Grand Lusso Coupe (above) that was shown at the 2013 Villa d´Este concours, and because of the enormity of the impending 9-series’ size, it’ll likely feature a lot of carbonfibre and aluminium to combat unfavourable weight.
